For more than 20 years, I have partnered with communities and organizations to provide creative, effective and award-winning leadership in the community development field. I offer this expertise to nonprofits & community groups, Tribal & Federal Programs, foundations, educational institutions, and others.
I work with partners to support effective community development, food systems revitalization, wellness promotion, nonprofit development and cultural rejuvenation. In addition to working with a wide variety of contexts, I have extensive experience collaborating with Native American communities. Rather than offering a set of standard services, I tailor services to meet the individual needs of the client.
Example: Strategic Plan for Native American Non-Profit Organization
Conduct a set of community engagement activities to identify community challenges, create a common vision, and develop a strategic plan to make the vision a reality.
Example: White Paper on Effective Philanthropy in Native American Communities
Research and write a major report for a foundation on effective funding strategies to help rebuild local, sustainable food systems in Native American communities.
Example: School Food Policy Development
Coordinated assessment food services in two school districts on the Tohono O'odham Nation, and made policy recommendations to improve student wellness, increase consumption of traditional foods, and support local food system development.
Example: Workshop for Indian Health Service Medical Staff
Conduct a workshop for the medical staff of an Indian Health Service hospital on how traditional foods and cultural forms of exercise can contribute to improved health outcomes for tribal members.
